Black-eyed pea Salsa

I wish I liked football. I really do.

But I just can't.

I've been trying to get my brother Tay to teach me how to watch it. I mean, it seems pretty simple. I'm way too uncoordinated to play it ("YAMMIE, you brain-dead paraplegic, go after that ball!!!"), so I thought, what the heck, anybody can watch it. All you have to move is your eyeball muscles, so it shouldn't really be too hard.

But it isssss.

I just don't understand it at all. Okay, that's a lie, because I do understand the basics. First, a dude throws it. Then somebody catches it and runs as fast as they can until people attack them. They keep doing this until they get to the end of the field at which point they must make a "touchdown" which means touching the ball down on the ground. You also get a bunch of points if you successfully toss the ball through the giant marshmallow roasting stick. That is the extent of my knowledge.

So, watching football games with Tay usually consists of a Pinterest spree for me with an occasional, "are we winning??" and "I can't tell if that guy hot or not under all that armor! This is why I like baseball better."

But even though I don't understand football, I do understand the Superbowl. It's all about hilarious, new commercials, crazy half-time shows, and... FOOOOD.

Now, this game day snack is a little late. I should have made it for the Superbowl last year when The Black Eyed Peas did the half-time show with their little Tron uniforms. HA. Get it? Get it? Cause this salsa has black-eyed peas? heh heh, okay, moving on...

Okay, the truth is, I didn't even make this salsa. My Great Aunt Janet made it. I just took pictures of it and stole the recipe. As you know, we're staying with our grandparents here in the wonderful land of Florida and a couple of Gramps' sisters are staying nearby, so one day they came over for a grill-out and that's when Janet brought this. It was soooo gooooood. I literally just sat and ate it with a spoon for about five meals. But if you want the full experience, I suggest serving it with Hint of Lime Tostitos. Enjoy!
Black-eyed pea Salsa

2 roma tomatoes
1/2 of an orange bell pepper
1/2 of a yellow bell pepper
1/2 of a red onion
1 small bunch of cilantro
1/2 jalapeno pepper (optional)
1 can of corn (drained)
1 can black-eyed peas (drained)
1/2 cup Italian dressing
1/2 cup Sweet and sour sauce

Chop up the tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, and onion. Add the corn, peas, and dressings. Refrigerate at least two hours before serving. Serve with tortilla chips.
